International Cricket dice replays - 1876/7 to now - Site Introduction
This blog will feature match reports, scorecards, and statistics from cricket matches replayed with various dice based cricket simulations.
Lambourne/Owzat Games International Cricket (referred to hereafter as IC) is the main game I will be using for replays, while Max Walker's Cricket Game, Minden Playing Card Cricket, and John Bowness Three Dice Cricket also offer alternatives for replaying Test Matches quite quickly.
I will be keeping a full statistical database using Cricket Statz of all matches played in this blog, as a sort of alternative cricket universe, with it's own records and averages.
I will be jumping back and forth through time at various points to keep my interest, so you will see players of all eras in action, not just those you may be familiar with.
I want to cover all eras, and try various "what if" scenarios, but would also like to replay some memorable series with lineups as similar to the original as possible.
Wanting to create something memorable begin the new blog with, I came up with the following idea:
What if T20 and One Day International cricket had been invented in 1877 when the first Test Match was played?
I want to replay various matches using old era players that might not necessarily have played T20 or ODI cricket, but judging by their Test records, might have been very good at it.
There were stars in every era, and with modern bats and shorter boundaries, the batsman in particular might have been able to match the modern players.
The bowlers from some of the early matches were from another age, but there were great match winning bowlers in all eras.
I hope to bring back some of that history in this blog, with a modern twist of T20 and ODI matches thrown in, so we will see what scores the great Don Bradman and others can come up with in modern format cricket.
It should be fascinating for me to do, as I love the history of the game, and bringing back old players to life with various cricket games has been a hobby since a child.
Match/Series previews, reports, scorecards and summaries of various series to follow.
